Free radicals can cause various kinds of degenerative diseases and skin aging. be neutralized with an enzymatic antioxidant, namely superoxide dismutase (SOD). One the plants that has high SOD activity is salam (Syzygium polyanthum). The aim this study was to determine crude extract bay leaves precipitated ammonium sulfate salt at concentrations 25, 50, 75%. began plant determination, enzyme extraction, precipitation extracts 75%, measurement total protein content test using WST-1 method calculate percent inhibition. results were statistically analyzed one way ANOVA. showed 75% respectively 9.38; 6.36; 8.50; 11.6 mg/mL. Mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene have been detected in affected members of some families with familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. To evaluate the possibility of a shared genetic defect in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Parkinson's disease, the SOD1 gene was sequenced in index patients with familial Parkinson's disease from 23 families.
